The BIG move!

(i tried to find a cooler picture, but this was all i could find)

I just wanted to update everyone on our brand new adventures from The Great State of Texas! First things first: we will never start saying, "Don't Mess with Texas." But I will say, "everything is bigger in Texas!"
We moved from Millington, TN to Mckinney, TX (about 30 miles North of Dallas) at the end of June. We packed up our lives and drove 450 miles west. The Lord has guided us and protected us from day one. Praise Him! With only about 75 miles left to go, our UHUAL truck busted it's rear tire. Jeremy swerved all over the interstate as I screamed in the car behind him. Thankfully, he made it to the side where we found that there was only ONE tire instead of TWO on that side. (The Millington UHAUL is under investigation...) We did not pay for the uhaul bill to say the least.

After being here for about a week, I got a call from the Mckinney Surgery Center (where I really wanted to work), and had applied months before. I went and interviewed a few days later, and was offered the job on the spot! I was assuming there were going to be weeks of me searching for a job and tagging along with Jeremy to work (which I did for like 3 days, and I drove him crazy). So this was a HUGE answer to prayer! I have a job! And I really love it, which is such a blessing!

We are currently living with a couple that runs the Young Life committee here in Mckinney. What a blessing they have been for letting us stay here until we find a house. We actually put a contract on a house about 3 months ago and backed out on it because we TOTALLY rushed into it and it was probably a tad too high for us. That's another WHOLE story where God directed our path- He totally grabbed us from a situation that we did not need to be in.  Sometimes I really wonder if He REALLY is guiding us, or if we just HOPE that He is. Well, let me tell you. He'll knock you over the head if you are not where you need to be (of course if you are seeking Him) and that is what He did. We got out of the contract with all our escrow money. It was pretty much a miracle.

Now, we want to live in a totally different part of town and with a totally different method. (We are trying to go through NACA, a non-profit that helps people buy homes with a lower interest rate, no down payment, or closing costs. And, No, its not a government thing.) Jeremy goes this Thursday to start the process. Please pray that the process goes through quickly and we can be in a new home soon! Its been a test of patience for us for sure. God's just teaching us all kinds of fun stuff ;) But he will and does provide ALL the time.

Jeremy just dove into work the week after we moved here as well. He lead the trip of around 100 kids to Crooked Creek in Colorado. It was a great week for him, getting to know the leaders and kids. He was the "new guy' for sure, but everyone quickly fell in love with him. How could they not? He is quickly learning the challenges that this job will hold, but is very excited about taking them on. We both are reminded quite often that we can NOT do this on our own. Only by God's mercy, power and grace can we have ANY impact on high school kids here. We definitely have our work cut out for us! We are excited though. What a privilege and joy it is to be able to bring the love of Christ to kids that have never known Him. I get excited just thinking about it.

Mckinney is a pretty affluent community whereas Millington was not.  The kids are all the same- in that they are insecure, hurting, lonely and need a Savior. But, there are cultural elements that disguise it in different ways. Most of the kids here (not all of course), have been given everything. They have never really "needed" anything. As far as they know, they have it "all together." It will be a new, exciting challenge to help them realize that they do, in fact, need something more.

Part of the reason I want to keep up with what's going on in our lives it to give Jesus credit and glory for what he is doing. The small to the big. I am always encouraged when I hear about what God is doing in someone's life, so I hope this encourages you.

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.- Philippians 4:19

And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.  Isaiah 58:11
