What's On Repeat in Our Home {Ellie Holcomb Album GIVEAWAY}

We play a lot of music in our home. I’ve talked about it a few times on the blog (here and here) because I think there’s just something about how worship music can prick our heart and fill our mouth with truth and praises to The Lord in such a way that within minutes of listening (and singing), our soul is refreshed and renewed. I don’t know what it is or how it works, but that’s how God designed it.

The soundtrack that plays in the background of our beautifully mess, sometimes really long, full days needs to be one that points my heart to Jesus, that speaks truth, that realigns my spirit. I love that God LOVES when we sing to him. When we rejoice. When we praise his name. That he inhabits the praises of his people. (Psalm 22:3)

So, lets listen to more music—the good stuff. The stuff that is full of promises and truth. The stuff that declares our trust in him.  The stuff that feeds our spirit and soul.

Ellie Holcomb released her album, As Sure as the Sun, last week and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it (nor has anyone who bought it). She is the real deal y’all—I was able to get to know her a little bit through Young Life stuff and her hubs and I went to High School together. If you’re around Ellie for more than 5 seconds, you cannot help but be blessed and see her genuine heart for the Lord. Her prayer for this album is that "these songs would help kick back at the darkness with a little bit of light. That God’s word woven into melody would refresh and encourage the weary heart." It is soaked in scripture and promises and truth. I love that its called As Sure as the Sun— as she says that God is the one thing we can always trust… just as the sun rises each morning, God’s love is certain and consistent and sure. 1. I love this album as well! Being at home all day with two littles, sometimes it's the music that gets me through the long days that can become mundane. Got the opportunity to hear both Drew and Ellie at the Andrew Peterson Behold the Lamb tour this past December. Really love the lyrics to Only Hope I've Got...."I don't want to tell some arrogant story or let myself believe I'm You. I don't want to be a thief who's stealing Your glory. Will You help remind me of what is true, the only hope I've got is You." So rich, so good. Blessings to you!

  3. I love that song too! Thanks for sharing! And yes, music really does help being home all day with two littles— though there's nothing in the world I'd rather do, I need a whole lot of Jesus to get me through ;) Blessings!

  4. This is such a great giveaway! Currently my favorite is Times by 10th Avenue North (slash Worn and just about every other song they have done..) Alone time in the car is always the best time for me to listen and worship :)

  5. My favorite time to worship is while I'm driving. It just creates an atmosphere of rest and peace that I otherwise struggle to make time for. One of my favorite worship songs recently is Crowder's "Here's My Heart," from last year's Passion album.

  6. Way cool! I love her too... Am addicted to her station on pandora radio. As for other worship albums (which I totally agree lifts my spirits!), I like: Tides (Bethel Music), Furious (Jeremy Riddle), anything by Jesus Culture or Kim-Walker Smith. Boom! So good.
